actually i never heard about Taman Negara Pulau Kukup (Pulau Kukup National Park) before this until the day i visited the Kampung Nelayan Pulau Kukup in Pontian district, Johor.. it was designated as a National Park since 27 March 1997..
from the Kampung Nelayan, we took a boat to the Taman Negara Pulau Kukup ..

this is the main entrance to the Taman Negara..
Pulau Kukup is today the home of countless species of wildlife.. among these are the smooth otter, dusky leaf monkey, long-tailed macaque, wild boar, shrimp, crab, shellfish, marine fish, forest bird, raptor, etc..

in front of the entrance there is a “floating” jetty.. the boat will drop the visitors here.. i had nausea when i was first standing on it.. :p

Pulau Kukup is the 2nd largest uninhabited mangroves in the world..

the hutan paya bakau..

the boardwalk for the visitors.. this is the only way one can “walk” on the island.. :)

one of the attracting point in this park is.. not the toilet.. but the..

ya, the suspension bridge.. :)

hehe.. i was suspended.. on the bridge i meant.. :p

this plate attracted me so much.. so i waited for a while to see what’s going to happen..

and.. i saw some crabs resting on the wood.. :p

haha.. good philosophy.. :)

there are trees with colourful leaves.. suddenly i felt like i was in Japan surrounded by sakura.. :p

there is a 5-storey height tower at the other end of the park..

looking down from the top of the tower.. how beautiful the mangrove island is.. :)

another view from the tower.. yes, let’s go green.. :)

and.. the certification that i was there in the Taman Negara Pulau Kukup.. :)
ooh i always thought kukup was the biggest unhabited mangrove swamp in the world! but what i remember from my trip there years ago, someone told me that kukup was actually the southernmost tip of the Asia continent. which is pretty amazing when you think about it, like at the very top would be russia and we’re right at THE END!
hi Bianca..
the southernmost tip of Asia is Tanjung Piai, Pontian..
never heard about this national park, but it looked great though.out of curiosity, how much was the boat trip (return trip)?
hi Madz..
the boat fare for return trip is RM10.. kalau pergi beramai-ramai boleh dapat murah lagi..
the entrance fee to Taman Negara Pulau Kukup is RM 5..
Enjoyed this post. I just love mangroves, but didn’t know about this park. Thanks for sharing.
hi Sharifah.. thanks for visiting..
