Oh Banana, Up Or Down?

2 Jun

i learned something new when i visited the Desaru Fruit Farm..

something interesting about the banana..  🙂

how to know if the bananas are safe to eat..?

let’s look at the flower on this banana tree (also called as banana plant)..  the bananas on this tree are safe to eat because the flower is pointing downward..  (banana flower also known as banana heart)..

however, if the flower is pointing upward, then the bananas from this tree are not safe to eat (poisoning)..

ha, remember, not all the things that “pointing” upward are good ya..  :p

Hello Dr Simon, I’m a final year medical student and a follower of your blog. Not sure if it’s right to ask you here but I wonder if you can enlighten me about housemanship program in HUSM. Some seniors say its not the best place for housemanship training as a lot of management decisions will be done by the registrars. What say you?

      hi Zain.. 🙂
i suggest you to apply housemanship in kkm hospital rather than teaching hospital (usm, ukm, um)..
you will learn more in kkm hospital in term of skills, and be more independent.. 🙂
regarding decisions making, of course you need to follow your superiors (mo / specialist) in both kkm and teaching hospitals..
from what i observe, the kkm houseman are slightly better and more competent compared to teaching hospital’s houseman..
      good luck Zain 🙂
