Ya.. This Is London (Part 1)

18 Jul

i was attending a course in Coventry, UK last May 2015..

and this was my first time to UK..

had my breakfast at the Plaza Premium Lounge, KLIA before the flight.. (a compliment from CIMB credit card).. :p

the flight took about 13 hours from Kuala Lumpur to London..

and i enjoyed the journey very much with Malaysia Airlines..

was watching my favourite movie Ombak Rindu during the flight.. :p

it was about 4.30 pm in London when i arrived at Heathrow Airport.. after the immigration clearance, i took the London Underground Tube from the airport to the Bayswater station (GBP 6.00)..

from there, i walked to the Malaysia Hall London.. a facility provided by Malaysian Students Department of Malaysian High Commission..

the hall provides transit accommodation for Malaysian students who study in UK and Ireland, for a maximum of 2 nights.. and it also opens to non-student Malaysian when empty room is available..

the Malaysia Hall London is situated at Queensborrough Terrace.. about 8 – 10 minutes walking distance from the Bayswater underground tube station..

simple and comfortable room in Malaysia Hall London (GBP 30 per night for a non-student single room)..

there is a canteen at the basement of the hall.. serving various type of Malaysian foods..

i had this for my dinner.. curry mutton rice with cabbage (GBP 3.00) and a glass of teh tarik (GBP 1.00)..

they also serve masakan panas (e.g. nasi goreng, mee goreng) where the price ranges from GBP 3.50 to GBP 5.50..

the next morning, i had nasi goreng + mee goreng + telur goreng sambal for my breakfast (GBP 4.50) and a glass of hot nescafe (GBP 1.00)..

this was 4.00 am in the morning, looking out from my room.. 🙂

during summer, UK has a longer day time.. so the day starts to bright at 4.00 am..

the street view at Queensborrough Terrace.. at 5.30 am..

the street view.. about 6.00 am..

public bicycles for rental (under the London Cycle Hire Scheme).. and the first 30 minutes ride is free.. 🙂

a public telephone booth..

a signboard for school..

street view.. about 7.00 am..

i like the buildings here..

they are well structured in standard style..

the Paddington Library..

next to the library is the Porchester Spa..

the West London Buddhist Centre..

the Whiteleys Shopping Centre.. the London first departmental store..

statues on the shopping centre building..

one of the attractions here in Bayswater is the Kensington Garden, which is also nearby to the Malaysia Hall London (about 8 – 10 minutes walking distance)..

to be continued..

I think this is a new location, not the one where I went to in 1994. The diner at the basement – a lot more affordable Malaysian delights, anytime nicer than anything outside.

      hi suituapui.
ya, this is a new location (since 2003).
the old location was at Bryanston Square, London.

I loved London, stayed at Malaysia Hall too but I think it was at a different location then, 1994, walking distance to Oxford Street. Loved the canteen at the basement, Malaysian food…a taste of home!
