Hi Dr, I am a year 2 medical student now and I would like to know if theres is chance for specialty training if the situation now only allows for contract HO and contract MO? Will taking MRCS still help in the application process for Masters in surgery, and will Singapore universities accept MRCS as entry for specialist training? Also, when should I try and do research is it after my contract MO time or should I do it when i’m in MBBS? Thanks.

hi Chan, thank you for visiting..
      for your questions:
yes, you may consider parallel training, joining university as trainee lecturer, or go oversea for training (e.g. UK, Australia)..
taking MRCS may help in the application process, but if you have involved/assisted in research/presentation/publication the chance will be even higher..
as far as i know, it is difficult to get into Singapore universities (regardless MRCS)..
you can assist your lecturers in simple research if there is a chance, to gain experience..
      hope these help.
all the best in your study.. ๐Ÿ™‚
